Brud J. Cronkrite, 22, of Spring Valley, Calif., died Friday in Baghdad from injuries sustained on Thursday in Karbalain a rocket-propelled grenade attack that was fired into abuilding near him on Thursday during a security patrol,according to the Department of Defense release. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 37th Armor, 1st Armored Division in Friedberg, Germany. Cronkrite was the son of Bill Cronkrite, who grew up in Torrington and graduated from THS in 1973. His grandparents are Dee and Dick Weinmaster of Torrington.
