Born in 1885 in Wigan, Lancashire, England. The son of William and Mary Alice (Hilton) Pomfret, he came to the United States in 1907 with his sister Beatrice Pomfret on the S.S. Ivernia sailing from Liverpool on 19 March 1907 and arriving at Boston on 28 March 1907. He was 19 and Beatrice was 11. He was a Coal Miner. He was 5'5", fair skin, brown hair, blue eyes. His last residence was WIgan and their final destination was Providence, Rhode Island. They did not have a ticket to their final destination. Their sister, Annie Gorman, paid for their passage and they were to met her. She lived at 44 (Furnes?) St., Providence, Rhode Island.
He married Sarah Elizabeth Bulpitt on Aug 22, 1908. They had 7 children.

WILLIAM POMFRET
The funeral of William Pomfret, 60, husband of Sarah (Bulpitt) Pomfret, who died Sunday afternoon at his home, 66 Maple Street, White Village, Cranston, will be held there tomorrow at 1:15 p.m., with service in St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church, Cranston Street, at 2 p.m. The Rev Frank T. Bullett, rector, will officiate. Burial will be in North Burial Ground, Providence.
Mr. Pomfret was born in Wigan, Lancashire, England, son of William and ALice (Hilton) Pomfret, and came to this country 39 years ago. He had been a resident of Cranston for the past 24 years, working as a back tender at the Cranston Print Works until his retirement in March 1944. He as a World War I veteran of the Canadian Army.
Besides his widow he leaves three daughters, Mrs. Walter Bensen of Cranston and Mrs. Alfred Patenaude and Mrs. Joseph Perry, both of Providence; three sons, Arthur Pomfret, p 1c, serving with the US Coast Guard at New London, Edward Pomfret of Cranston and Harold Pomfret of Warwick; two sisters, Mrs. Annie Gorman and Mrs. Timothy Votto, both of Providence; nine grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
